PS5 Cronus Zen Setup Guide (May 2026)

Getting your Cronus Zen working on a PS5 takes a specific sequence of steps. Skip one and the device won't be recognized. Follow this guide exactly and you'll be up and running in under five minutes.

What you'll learn

  • How to physically connect the Cronus Zen to a PS5
  • The exact button-hold trick that bypasses the PS5's accessory check
  • Which PS5 settings screen to navigate to before plugging anything in
  • How to confirm the setup worked

Before you start

Before you start

  • Cronus Zen device in hand
  • USB cable that reaches from the Cronus Zen to your PS5 (front or back port both work)
  • DualSense controller with a USB cable
  • PS5 powered on and at the home screen
  • No script loaded on the Cronus Zen — the device display must be blank
No script loaded

Make absolutely sure there is no script on your Cronus Zen before you begin. If a script is showing on the device screen, remove it first. Starting with a script loaded will break the bypass process.

Step-by-step

Unplug the top cable from the Cronus Zen. Before anything else, the Cronus Zen must have zero power. Remove the cable from the top port so the device is completely off.
Plug your DualSense into the right side of the Cronus Zen. Use a USB cable to connect your controller directly into the right-side port on the Cronus Zen.
Connect the Cronus Zen to your PS5. Plug the other end of your cable into either the front or back USB port on your PS5 — both work fine.
Power on your DualSense. Press the PlayStation button on the controller to turn it on. The controller should light up normally.
Navigate to the PS5 accessory settings. On your PS5, go to Settings → Accessories → Turn Off Accessories. Stay on this screen — do not exit it.
Hover the power cable over the Cronus Zen's top port. Grab the cable that will give the Cronus Zen power. Place it right at the entrance of the port but do not plug it in yet. Make sure you can insert it with one hand while your other hand is free.
Hold down on the D-pad (right D-pad pointing toward the center of the controller). With your free hand, press and hold the right directional pad inward (toward the middle of the controller). Keep holding it down throughout the next step.
While still holding the D-pad, plug in the power cable to the Cronus Zen. In one smooth motion, push the cable fully into the top port of the Cronus Zen while continuing to hold the D-pad down.
Watch the PS5 screen complete the bypass. You will see a short animation or process play out on the screen. Keep holding the D-pad until it finishes.
Release the D-pad. Once the on-screen process ends, let go of the D-pad. Your Cronus Zen is now active and ready to use on your PS5 for any game.

Tips

Cable placement matters

Position the power cable at the Cronus Zen's top port before you navigate to the settings screen. Having everything physically staged means you only need to focus on the button hold when the moment comes.

Front or back USB port — your choice

The PS5's front and back USB ports are equally compatible with the Cronus Zen. Use whichever keeps your cable tidy or easiest to reach during setup.

If you want scripts to run on your Cronus Zen after setup, yew.gg is a solid place to browse options built specifically for popular PS5 titles. You can also find a wide selection of community and premium scripts over at yewscripts.com.

Troubleshooting

| Symptom | Likely cause | Fix | |---|---|---| | Cronus Zen powers on but PS5 doesn't recognize it | D-pad wasn't held during plug-in | Unplug, restart from Step 6, and hold the D-pad the entire time | | Bypass animation never appears on screen | Not on the correct settings screen | Make sure you navigated to Settings → Accessories → Turn Off Accessories before plugging in | | Cronus Zen shows a script on the display | A script was loaded before setup | Remove the script, power the device off completely, and restart from Step 1 | | Controller doesn't power on in Step 4 | Controller cable not seated in Cronus Zen | Check that the DualSense is plugged firmly into the right-side port of the Cronus Zen |

FAQ

Does it matter whether I use the front or back USB port on my PS5? No. The video confirms both the front and back USB ports on the PS5 work fine with the Cronus Zen. Use whichever is more convenient for your setup.

Why do I have to hold the D-pad while plugging in the Cronus Zen? This is the key step that triggers the PS5 bypass. Without holding the right D-pad (pointing inward toward the center of the controller) at the exact moment the Cronus Zen receives power, the bypass will not complete and the device won't be recognized.

Can I have a script on the Cronus Zen during setup? No. The guide is explicit: the Cronus Zen display must show no script before you begin. Load any scripts only after the setup process is complete.

Will this setup work for any PS5 game? Yes. Once the bypass is complete and you let go of the D-pad, the Cronus Zen is active and compatible with any PS5 game you want to play.
