Cronus Zen PS5 Setup Guide: Connect in Under 2 Minutes

Setting up your Cronus Zen on PS5 is easier than it looks — but the order of steps matters. Miss one and it won't work. This guide walks you through the exact process shown in the official video so you can get connected fast.

What You'll Learn

  • How to physically connect your Cronus Zen to a PS5
  • Which PS5 settings to change before plugging anything in
  • The exact button input required during connection
  • How to confirm the Zen is properly bypassed and running

Before You Start

Make sure you have everything ready before following the steps below. Skipping prep is the most common reason the setup fails.

Before you start

  • Cronus Zen device in hand
  • USB-C cable available (for the front of the PS5)
  • Cable already connected from the left port of the Cronus Zen to the top of your PS5 controller
  • PS5 powered on and accessible
  • PS5 DualSense controller nearby
Cable order matters

Do NOT plug the USB-C cable into the top of the Cronus Zen yet. The video is clear: that connection comes at a specific moment during setup. Plugging in too early will break the process.

Step-by-Step

Follow these steps in exact order. The timing of the final plug-in is critical.

Connect a cable from the left port of the Cronus Zen to the top of your PS5 DualSense controller. This connection should already be in place before anything else happens.
Take a USB-C cable and plug one end into the front of your PS5. Leave the other end free — do not plug it into the Cronus Zen yet.
On your PS5, go to Settings → Accessories → Advanced Settings and confirm your screen matches the setup shown in the video.
Navigate to Controller General and set your Communication Method to Use USB Cable.
Go back into General, hover over Turn Off Accessories, and click into it. You should see your controller listed there.
Pick up the free end of the USB-C cable (the one coming from the front of your PS5) and hover it near the top port of the Cronus Zen — but don't plug it in yet.
Get your hand into a comfortable position so you can plug in the cable with one hand.
With your other hand, hold down right on the D-pad of your DualSense controller and keep holding it.
While still holding right on the D-pad, plug the USB-C cable into the top of the Cronus Zen.
Check the Cronus Zen display — there should be no script showing when it connects. You will see the bypass running in the background. That confirms a successful connection.
Hold the D-pad the whole time

Don't tap — hold right on the D-pad continuously from the moment before you plug in until the Zen is fully connected. Releasing too early can cause the bypass to fail.

Tips

Get your grip right before plugging in. The video specifically calls out getting your hand in a comfortable position before the final plug-in step. You need to plug in smoothly with one hand while the other holds the D-pad — practice the motion before you commit.

No script on the display is a good sign. When the Zen connects correctly, you won't see a script on the device screen. Don't panic thinking something is wrong — that blank or bypassed state is exactly what you want.

Use the correct ports. The cable from your controller goes into the left port of the Zen. The USB-C from the PS5 goes into the top. Mixing these up is a common mistake.

Troubleshooting

| Problem | Likely Cause | Fix | |---|---|---| | Script appears on Zen screen at connection | D-pad wasn't held during plug-in | Unplug, restart the process, hold right on D-pad before plugging in | | Controller not showing in Turn Off Accessories | Communication method not set to USB Cable | Go back to Controller General and update the setting | | Zen not responding at all | Cable plugged into wrong port | Check that USB-C from PS5 goes into the top of the Zen | | Controller disconnects immediately | Bluetooth still active | Confirm Advanced Settings match the video and USB mode is selected |

Check your settings screen

The video instructs you to make sure your PS5 Accessories settings screen looks exactly like theirs before moving forward. If it doesn't match, don't proceed — fix the settings first.

FAQ

Do I need to turn off my controller before starting? The video doesn't require a full power-off. Instead, you use the PS5 menu to turn off accessories at a specific point in the process — this is how the controller state is managed during the bypass.

Why do I have to hold right on the D-pad while plugging in? This is the key step that triggers the bypass on the Cronus Zen. The video shows this clearly — without holding right on the D-pad during plug-in, the device won't connect correctly to the PS5.

What does it mean if a script shows on the Zen when I plug it in? According to the video, no script should be visible when you plug in the Zen. If one appears, the connection didn't go through the bypass properly. Unplug and repeat the process from step 6.

Where can I find scripts to use with my Cronus Zen? You can browse a full library of Cronus Zen scripts at yewscripts.com — all organised and ready to load onto your device.
