Before You Start

Make sure you have everything ready before you touch a single cable. Skipping any of these will cause the setup to fail.

  • A USB cable is plugged into your PS5 (front or back port both work)

Home screen required

If your Cronus Zen is showing a script on the display, the setup will not work. Keep pressing the button to cycle through until you reach the plain home screen.

Step-by-Step

Check the Cronus Zen display. Make sure it shows the home screen — no script names or numbers. If a script is visible, press the button repeatedly until the home screen appears.
Plug your PS5 controller into the Cronus Zen. Connect it to the top-right port on the device and also to the left side of the Cronus Zen as shown.
Turn on the PS5 controller via Bluetooth. Power it on wirelessly so it pairs through the Zen.
Open PS5 accessory settings. On your PS5, go to Settings → Accessories → General → Turn Off Accessories and stay on that screen.
Pick up the USB cable that is already plugged into your PS5 (front or back — either works). Do not plug it into the Cronus Zen yet.
Get into position. Hold the Cronus Zen in one hand and position your other hand so you can plug in the cable comfortably with a single motion.
Hold down the right direction on the D-pad. On the PS5 controller, press and hold the D-pad button that points toward the middle of the controller (right on the D-pad). Hold it down like a button — do not release.
While holding the D-pad, plug the USB cable into the Cronus Zen. Do both actions together in one smooth motion.
Watch the PS5 screen. You will see a brief spam or flicker of activity on the PS5 display. Keep holding the D-pad button down the entire time this is happening.
Release the D-pad when the spam stops. Once the PS5 screen settles and the activity stops, let go of the button. Your Cronus Zen is now fully set up on PS5.

Both the front and back USB ports on the PS5 work for this setup. Use whichever fits your cable and desk setup most comfortably.

One-hand technique

Position yourself before you start. The key moment — holding the D-pad and plugging in the cable at the same time — is much easier if you plan your grip in advance rather than rushing.

Troubleshooting

The PS5 does not respond when I plug in the Zen. Make sure the Cronus Zen is on the home screen, not a script screen. This is the most common reason the setup fails.

I can't hold the D-pad and plug in the cable at the same time. Slow down and reposition. Lay the cable and the Cronus Zen on a flat surface so you have more control. Both actions need to happen simultaneously.

The spam on the PS5 screen doesn't stop. Keep holding the D-pad right button. Do not release until the screen fully settles. Letting go too early can interrupt the process.

I'm not sure which D-pad button to hold. It is the button on the D-pad that points toward the center of the controller — the right direction. Press it like a standard button and hold it down.

FAQ

Does it matter whether I use the front or back USB port on the PS5? No. Both work. Use whichever port your cable reaches most easily.
