Cronus Zen PS5 Setup Guide (2026) — Working Method

Get your Cronus Zen running on PlayStation 5 in under two minutes. This guide walks you through every step shown in the setup video so you can start running scripts on any PS5 game right away.

What You'll Learn

  • How to connect your Cronus Zen to a PS5 correctly
  • Which PS5 controller settings enable the bypass
  • The exact plug-in technique that makes the connection work every time
  • Where to find the best Cronus Zen scripts for PS5

Before You Start

Before you start

  • Official PS5 DualSense controller (third-party controllers will not work)
  • USB-C cable plugged into the front of your PS5 (or a standard USB into the back)
  • Cronus Zen device — **not yet plugged in** to the console
  • Controller plugged into the **top** of the DualSense and into the **left side** of the Cronus Zen
Controller compatibility

This method only works with an official PS5 DualSense controller. Third-party or unlicensed controllers will not get you past the bypass step.

Step-by-Step

Plug your DualSense into the Cronus Zen first. Connect the cable to the top of your DualSense controller and into the left-side port of the Cronus Zen. Do not connect the Cronus Zen to the PS5 yet.
Turn on your DualSense by holding the PlayStation button.
Open PS5 Settings. From the home screen go to Settings → Accessories → Advanced Settings.
Check the Bluetooth status. The screen should show a "Turn Off Bluetooth" option. As long as you see that option, Bluetooth is on and you are good to go. Do not tap it.
Set the communication method. Go to Controller (General) and confirm that Communication Method is set to Use USB Cable.
Check the auto-off setting. Navigate to Turn Off Accessories and verify the screen matches the official setup — your official PS5 controller should be listed there.
Stay on the Turn Off Accessories screen. Keep this screen open on your TV. This is the screen you need to be on when you complete the connection.
Hover the Cronus Zen near the USB port. Hold the Cronus Zen close to the USB-C port on the front of your PS5 without fully inserting it yet.
Hold Right on the D-pad. With your other hand, press and hold the D-pad in the right direction (pointing toward the middle of the controller) on your DualSense.
Plug in the Cronus Zen while holding the D-pad. In one smooth motion, plug the Cronus Zen into the PS5 while continuing to hold right on the D-pad.
Watch for confirmation. You will see a series of button-click animations on the PS5 screen. The Cronus Zen display will light up. That confirms the bypass is active and the connection is established.
USB-C vs standard USB

The creator uses USB-C into the front of the PS5 and finds it more consistent for this connection. If you are using a standard USB cable, the back ports also work — just follow the same plug-in technique.

Tips

Use the front USB-C port when possible. The video notes that USB-C tends to give a more reliable connection compared to standard USB ports for this setup.

Keep both hands ready before you plug in. The timing of the D-pad hold and the plug-in matters. Get into position first — D-pad held right, Cronus Zen hovering at the port — then plug in cleanly.

No script on the Cronus Zen display is normal at connection. When you first plug in you may see no script loaded on the Zen screen. That is expected. You can load scripts after the connection is confirmed.

Troubleshooting

The PS5 does not react when I plug in the Cronus Zen. Double-check that Communication Method is set to Use USB Cable in your controller settings. Bluetooth must remain on — do not turn it off.

My controller disconnects immediately after plugging in. Make sure you are holding the D-pad right before and during the plug-in, not after. The timing is the most common cause of a failed connection.

The Cronus Zen powers on but the PS5 shows nothing. Confirm your DualSense is plugged into the correct ports — top of the controller and left side of the Cronus Zen. Swapping cables is also worth trying.

I used a third-party controller and it is not working. Only an official Sony DualSense will work with this bypass method as shown in the video.

FAQ

Does this Cronus Zen PS5 setup work in 2026? Yes. The method shown in the video is confirmed working in 2026. The key requirements are an official DualSense, Communication Method set to USB Cable, and the D-pad hold technique at plug-in.

Do I need to turn off Bluetooth on my PS5? No — and you should not. The setting in Advanced Settings will read "Turn Off Bluetooth," which just means Bluetooth is currently on. Leave it on. The bypass requires Bluetooth to be active.

Which USB port should I use on the PS5? The front USB-C port is recommended for consistency. The rear USB ports also work if you are using a standard USB cable.

Can I use a DualShock 4 instead of a DualSense? The video specifies an official PS5 DualSense controller only. The guide does not cover DualShock 4 compatibility for this particular bypass method.
